Kathy Liebert BiographyKathy Liebert is one of the original poker ladies. Liebert began her career at the low limit poker tables, playing Colorado beginning in 1991. She did well and got herself a job as a prop poker player, paid to keep the tables active. Prop poker players play poker with their own cash, they win what they win, and they lose what they lose. However they are generally paid for their time in the poker room. Online, prop players by the way generally get their poker rake reduced. Liebert, who was born in Tennessee and grew up in Long Island, New York, began playing poker tournaments in 1994. She currently lives part time in Downey California and part time in Las Vegas Nevada, it’s pretty common for poker pro’s to keep a residence in Vegas in addition to their secondary homes. Liebert earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Finance from Marist College located on Poughkeepsie New York. Party Poker kicked of their first ever Party poker Million in 2002, a year before the World Poker Tour started airing the event on television. Liebert took it down, cutting a deal at the end with Phil Hellmuth (the spoiled poker brat) and Berj Kacherian. That win was a milestone not just for Liebert, but for all women that play poker. Kathy Liebert became the first woman ever to win a tournament with a prize pool of 1 million dollars. Liebert went on to become the first woman ever to reach $3 million dollars in poker tournament winnings according to poker-babes.com and joins Jennifer Tilly as one of the most successful women poker players. |
